The eight-cap Super Eagles attacker has secured a fresh opportunity in Denmark, hoping regular football can help him rediscover the form that once made him one of Nigeria’s most talked-about exports.

Brøndby move offers Dennis a much-needed fresh start

Emmanuel Dennis has signed a two-year contract with Danish Superliga side Brøndby IF after successfully completing a week-long trial.

The 28-year-old forward had been without a club since terminating his contract with Nottingham Forest last summer, bringing an end to a frustrating spell in England.

Dennis originally joined Forest from Watford in 2022 for around €14.8 million but failed to establish himself, leading to a series of loan moves to Istanbul Basaksehir, Blackburn Rovers, and a return to Watford.

None of those stints provided the spark he needed, and he eventually became surplus to requirements. Despite links with clubs such as Celtic, Persepolis, and another Watford return, no concrete deal materialised until Brøndby stepped in.

From Premier League standout to rebuilding in Denmark

Just four years ago, Dennis was flying in the Premier League, scoring 10 goals and registering six assists in 33 appearances for Watford in a standout individual season.

Although Watford were relegated, his performances suggested he would remain in England’s top flight, with several clubs circling. His move to Nottingham Forest, however, proved to be a turning point for the worse, as he often struggled to even make matchday squads.

Now, under Brøndby coach Steve Cooper, who previously worked with Dennis at Forest, the Nigerian has a familiar face willing to give him another chance.

While the Danish Superliga is not among Europe’s elite and Brøndby are no longer dominant domestically, the move offers Dennis what he needs most: minutes on the pitch.

With eight Super Eagles caps and no international appearance since 2022, a strong run in Denmark could be his route back to relevance for both club and country.
