'Honest' Finidi George moves on after latest NPFL setback for Enyimba
The legendary Super Eagles winger wants to see his Enyimba side move on quickly after the latest setback in the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL.
Finidi George's Enyimba suffered another poor outing in the football league following a narrow 1-0 defeat at Akwa United on Sunday.
A brilliant late header from the hero of the day Uche Collins proved to be the difference between the Promise Keepers and the Aba giants.
Finidi moves on
The defeat in Uyo at the weekend saw Enyimba drop out of the top four in Group A as they extended their poor run of form to four games without a win.
The eight-time champions lost two of those matches and drew two but according to the Super Eagles' assistant boss, the Elephants have to move on as there are still points to be played for.
"We have so many points to play for and we will all start from the next game," he said.
"That's football for you. You cannot be planning four weeks ahead, you know? it's (about) the next game and if you win that game to boost morale for us to go out and see if we can pick (more) points.
Finidi rues missed chances
Speaking further on the game and their performance against their host, Akwa United, the 51-year-old added that they knew that the game would be difficult.
However, in an honest assessment of the tie, he added that it could have gone either way while hinting that the People's Elephant have become wasteful in front of the goal.
"Football is about results and if you are not getting results it is as if you are not doing anything," he added.
"I can recall our game against (Bendel) Insurance where we would have won 4-1, but we didn't score and they equalised 1-1.
The same against Nasarawa United, a 6-0 would have been a good result, but we didn't score and at the end of the day, they equalised and that was it. That was the two points (leading to the game vs United)."
On Akwa United
"So, coming here (to Uyo), we knew it's going to be a difficult one but we gave them a fight. But it could have gone either way but it didn't happen (for us). So, we have to see how we can get ourselves up and prepare for the next match."
The Elephants have their hands full next weekend when they welcome giant Plateau United to Aba next in the NPFL.
