Sunderland set to make move for Super Eagles’ Dele-Bashiru in January

Dele-Bashiru's future at the Serie A club appears uncertain and could be in jeopardy, with a potential exit from Lazio in January on the horizon.

Manager Maurizio Sarri has reportedly made the midfielder available for transfer, opening the door for a mid-season departure. 

However, the club are expected to evaluate their options closer to the transfer window as market dynamics change.

According to reports from Italian media, the Black Cats have identified Dele-Bashiru as one of several options to bolster their midfield during the upcoming winter transfer window.

A move would be advantageous for Sunderland, as the Nigerian-born player qualifies as a homegrown talent under FA regulations due to his formative years at Manchester City.

Sunderland manager Régis Le Bris has already acknowledged discussions concerning another Lazio player, Matteo Guendouzi, but it appears Dele-Bashiru is also firmly on the club's radar. 

The midfielder has now been added to their shortlist, with a transfer in January considered a real possibility.

Sarri recently omitted Dele-Bashiru from the squad for a match against Lecce. The midfielder had been left out of the official squad list in September, but his expected reinstatement did not materialise due to his fitness.

With interest from England growing, Lazio is anticipated to make a final decision on Dele-Bashiru's future when the transfer window opens in January.
