Shericka Jackson dethrones Sha'Carri Richardson as 100m world leader to win Jamaican title

Shericka Jackson sped herself back to the top of the world's best 100m runner this year, clocking an outstanding Personal Best (PB) of 10.65s to win the women's 100m final at the Jamaican National Trials.

Jackson's time was so impressive that it smashed Sha'Carri Richardson's world-leading time of 10.71s clocked a day before in the prelims at the US Championships, and moved her fifth on the all-time list.

She has now made herself a top favourite for the world title in Budapest, alongside Richardson and Marie-Josee Ta Lou. There's also the conversation of her breaking Florence Griffith-Joyner's World Record (WR) in the 100m and 200m.

The World silver medallist was miles ahead of second-placed Sashalee Forbes in 10.96s and third-placed Natasha Morrison in 10.98s, as both secured their spots on the Jamaican World Championships team to Budapest.

Bianna Williams (11.01s) and Olympic Champion Elaine Thompson-Herah (11.04s) were fourth and fifth respectively and will await their selection on the team.

The women's 100m in Budapest will be a fire-cracker as there's no top favourite for the title, considering defending champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce is yet to make her debut this season.
