American track stars Sha'Carri Richardson and Christian Coleman have entered not guilty pleas to charges stemming from their arrests last Thursday in Florida, according to court documents.

Alisia Adamson, the attorney representing both athletes, filed the pleas on their behalf on Monday. Richardson faces a charge of dangerous excessive speeding along with several other driving violations. Coleman was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting an officer without violence, both misdemeanors.

The incident began when an officer in an unmarked vehicle clocked Richardson driving a gray Aston Martin at 104 MPH in Winter Garden, Florida, around noon. Body camera footage showed the 25-year-old sprinter attempting to explain her speed, claiming a tire was underinflated and that she had accidentally changed the car's settings with her phone. The officer was unconvinced by her explanation.

Despite her attempts to de-escalate the situation by stating she was "a law-abiding citizen," Richardson was arrested.

According to the arrest affidavit, Coleman arrived at the scene during the traffic stop and approached Richardson while the officer was completing paperwork. The officer instructed Coleman to return to his vehicle, which he initially did. However, he reportedly continued to try and justify Richardson's speed.

When the officer asked the 29-year-old for identification, Coleman allegedly refused, leading to his arrest for resisting. A subsequent search of his Jeep revealed a "glass smoking device" in the center console. The report noted that the bowl appeared to have been used but cleaned, with a small amount of green, leafy material remaining.

Both Richardson and Coleman posted bond and were released later that evening.

This is not the first time the pair has had a run-in with law enforcement. Last year, Richardson was arrested for fourth-degree domestic assault following a physical altercation with Coleman at an airport, which was captured on surveillance video.
