Former Super Eagles head coach Sunday Oliseh has openly questioned Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim’s decision to keep Slovenian striker Benjamin Sesko on the bench in the Premier League.
United secured a narrow 3-2 victory over Burnley at Old Trafford on Saturday, thanks to a 97th-minute penalty from captain Bruno Fernandes. The result gave the Red Devils their first win of the season, but concerns remain over their performances and tactical choices.
Amorim’s men dominated possession and opened the scoring through a Josh Cullen own goal, before Lyle Foster equalised for Burnley. New signing Bryan Mbeumo restored United’s lead with his first Premier League goal, only for Jaidon Anthony to level matters again midway through the second half.
With the game heading for a stalemate, VAR awarded United a late penalty after Amad Diallo was fouled. Fernandes converted from the spot to secure all three points.
Despite the victory, criticism of Amorim’s team selection continues to grow. Big-money signing Sesko has yet to start a league game, coming off the bench in all three matches so far.
What Oliseh said
Oliseh, reacting on social media, admitted he was baffled by the repeated decision to sideline the striker.
“Unless Sesko has an underlying condition, I am still short of words why such an expensive investment by Manchester United starts the game on the bench! Something just ain't right," he said

At just 21, Sesko is seen as one of Europe’s most promising forwards, and many fans expected him to play a central role in United’s attack this season.
His limited game time has raised questions about Amorim’s strategy, especially given United’s inconsistent start.
