According to a report from Fichajes, the 24-year-old is liked by the big spenders in the Saudi Pro League, and they are preparing a possible bid.

Per the report, the suitors are aware of the huge financial ramifications of the deal and are prepared to bid as high as €90 million to prise him away from the club.

Greenwood joined Les Phoceens last summer for a €26 million fee after spending last season on loan at Getafe. He has taken to life in Ligue 1 comfortably, and only Ousmane Dembele (21) has scored more than his (16) this season.

How it helps Manchester United

Upon transferring Greenwood to Marseille, the Red Devils worked a 50% sell-on clause into the deal, meaning they are entitled to half of whatever the Ligue 1 side make from selling the striker.

Should the rumoured deal go through, Manchester United would be entitled to €45 million. Seeing as Greenwood was from their academy, that would count as pure profit in PSR calculations.

United have had to resort to penny-pinching policies in the last year due to their financial situation. €45 million for the possible sale of Greenwood would be a sizable injection.
