The deal will not only wipe out the Toffees debt, allowing them to move into their new stadium without financial burden, but it could also lead to a managerial shakeup.

The takeover might bring Gareth Southgate to Goodison Park, with reports suggesting Friedkin is considering the former England manager to replace Sean Dyche, who has overseen a dismal start to the season with Everton currently languishing in the relegation zone.

The Toffees notched their first point this term out against Leicester City, ending a four-match losing start this term.

Nevertheless, reports continue to swirl about the incumbent’s future on Merseyside, with Everton winless after five matches and second-bottom in the standings.
