Report: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer influences Man United interest in Wilfred Ndidi
Manchester United’s reignited interest in Wilfred Ndidi was reportedly sparked by former head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who is said to have urged the Red Devils' sporting director, Jason Wilcox to look into signing the Nigeria international.
The former Molde coach had the Besiktas job from January to August 2025 and was Ndidi’s manager at the Turkish Super Lig club for a brief period before he was sacked due to poor results.
Manchester United's interest in Ndidi
As Pulse Sports reported, Manchester United have been linked with the signing of Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi and AC Milan's Ruben Loftus-Cheek, as they are keen on bolstering their midfield options in the winter transfer window to improve Michael Carrick's chances.
Ndidi has been a long-term target for the Red Devils, and according to recent reports, the Manchester-based outfit might be ready to pull the trigger.
Ole involved in Ndidi interest
According to TeamTalk, per Politikam, the fresh interest from Manchester United has the fingerprints of Solskjaer. Per the reports, he discussed Ndidi with the club's director of football, Wilcox, informing him that the Super Eagles captain could fix their physicality debt in midfield.
Meanwhile, Ndidi is not the only Super Eagles midfielder in discussion for a possible transfer. Premier League sides Sunderland and Nottingham Forest are reportedly keeping tabs on Super Eagles midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru and are contemplating a move; however, Turkish Super Lig side Trabzonspor are leading the race.
