Report: Barcelona target Laporte is willing to leave Manchester City
Aymeric Laporte is reportedly interested in a move away from Manchester City following his reduced minutes and prominence in Pep Guardiola's side
The 28-year-old Spanish centre-back is a target of Barcelona in their search for Gerrard Pique's replacement, and according to reports, City would not block his exit as they have already lined up a replacement of their own.
Laporte wants out
Foot Mercato reports that the French-Spanish defender is open to a move away from the Etihad this season following his reduced game time.
The Spain international has only started six league games this season, and although injuries have been a factor in his limited usage, the arrival of Manuel Akanji from Dortmund has also played a part.
Laporte's current deal at Manchester City expires in the summer of 2025, and with only two years remaining in his deal in the summer, he could prove affordable for Barcelona, who have had him as a desired option over the years.
City want Gvardiol
Manchester City are also reported to be open to a possible exit of Laporte, as they have already set their sights on Croatia's World Cup star Josko Gvardiol as a possible replacement for the Spaniard.
Foot Mercato reports that Manchester City already made a move for him in the winter transfer window, with a bid that would place the defender above all others in terms of transfer fee paid.
Although the deal fell through, City were said to have offered €110 million for the services of the centre-back and were willing to loan him back to Leipzig for the remainder of the season. The Cityzens would be expected to go back for Gvardiol, especially if they lose Laporte in the summer.
