According to reports from France, the 2018 World Cup winner, Dembélé will be crowned the 2025 Ballon d’Or winner, capping off an extraordinary season that saw him play a decisive role in Paris Saint-Germain’s first-ever UEFA Champions League triumph in May.

The 28-year-old forward’s dazzling form and ability to rise in crucial moments are believed to have given him the edge over rivals.

Should the reports prove accurate, Dembélé would become the first French player since Karim Benzema in 2022 to lift the golden ball, further enhancing his legacy at both club and national level.

The football world turns its eyes to Paris on Monday evening as the prestigious Ballon d’Or ceremony returns to the Théâtre du Châtelet.

The 69th edition of the Ballon d’Or will bring together football’s elite to celebrate the outstanding performers of the 2024/25 season.

The event remains the sport’s most glamorous individual award ceremony, honoring players whose performances have defined the football calendar year.

Last year’s men’s award was won by Manchester City’s Rodri, while Aitana Bonmatí of Barcelona and Spain claimed the women’s prize for the second consecutive time.

This year, all eyes are on whether France will celebrate a homegrown champion in Dembélé.

Yamal pushes for recognition

The main challenger to Dembélé is Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal, who, at just 18 years old, has taken European football by storm.

Though tipped as a future multiple Ballon d’Or winner, Yamal may have to wait his turn if Dembélé’s triumph is confirmed.
