The event at the Théâtre du Châtelet will not only crown the best male and female footballers of the season but also feature a captivating duel for the main prize.

This year, the race for the top award is expected to be a tight contest between two of football's most exciting talents, Ousmane Dembélé of Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona's teenage sensation, Lamine Yamal.

The Ballon d'Or ceremony is scheduled to begin at 7:00 PM BST (8:00 PM WAT in Nigeria). Football fans around the world can tune in through various platforms to catch the awards live.

Ousmane Dembélé: The French forward is considered the favourite after an impressive season with Paris Saint-Germain, which saw them win a historic quadruple, including their first-ever Champions League title. Dembélé's contributions, which included 35 goals, were key to filling the void left by Kylian Mbappé's departure.

Lamine Yamal: At just 18 years old, Yamal has emerged as a genuine superstar. He played an importnat role in Barcelona's La Liga and Copa del Rey triumphs and helped Spain win the European Championship. Yamal's nomination for the senior award comes a year after he won the Kopa Trophy for the world's best young player.

While many of the PSG nominees may miss the ceremony due to a postponed Ligue 1 match, the battle for the top prize is still expected to be the highlight of the night.
