Mbappe spoke glowingly about Alonso’s influence since taking over at the Santiago Bernabéu. “He made a great impression on me. You can see someone eager to succeed.

“He knows the club perfectly because he played at Real Madrid. Right now, we are just trying to put into practice what he tells us,” the forward said in an interview with Bild.

The striker highlighted how Alonso’s demanding coaching style has already improved the team’s play and reinforced the culture of winning at Madrid.

Reflecting on their campaign so far, Mbappe acknowledged that while three opening wins have been positive, the team must remain focused. “We need to keep working, keep pushing ourselves, because we know how difficult it is to win titles.

“That’s what we want. We are on the right track and just beginning a long journey, but the goal is always the same: winning titles.” The Frenchman also admitted lessons from last season need to be put into action, particularly with the World Cup on the horizon.

Real Madrid have Champions League edge

When asked about Madrid’s prospects in Europe, Mbappe was clear: “I always say Real Madrid is the favourite to win the Champions League. But there are many good teams in Europe, so many. Last year was great with the new format. This year will be even better.”

His words reflect the club’s enduring reputation on the continent, with a record 15 titles already under their belt.

Mbappe also touched on his new role as Madrid’s No. 10, revealing it was the club’s decision during his summer break. “I was on vacation. The club wanted to give it to me and called. I said, okay. It’s as simple as that.”

With Alonso’s energy on the touchline and Mbappe’s drive on the pitch, Madrid look determined to make another deep run in Europe.
