Raja hides as Al Ahly, Sundowns stars show class from the quarterfinals’ first leg
For the first time this season, Raja Casablanca players have failed to make it to the CAF Champions League team of the week after falling 2-0 to Al Ahly in their first leg of the quarterfinal.
The side had gone unbeaten through their Group C that had Guinea’s AC Horoya and East African neighbours Simba and Vipers.
Mohammed ABdelmonem and Mohammed Fathy who scored the two goals in Cairo have made the team of the first leg that also has their teammates Marwan Mohsen and Mohammed Hany.
Denis Onyango’s teammates Teboho Mokoena, Aubrey Modiba and Peter Shalulile were picked for their standout performance in Mamelodi Sundowns' 4-1 win away to CR Belouizdad in Algeria.
Shalulile leads the scorers’ chart with five goals.
Congolese forward Jean Othos Baleke who score the lone goal as Simba beat defending champions Wydad Casablanca, is among the eleven that left a mark over the weekend.
