Pegula and Medvedev march on, plus more Round 2 results of Indian Wells

The second-round matches of the Indian Wells were action-packed, with some of the big names now showing up and a few upsets getting recorded.

Here's a recap of match winners who are through to the third round of the Masters tournament.

Daniil Medvedev secured a 15th consecutive win this year, overcoming Brandon Nakashima 6-4, 6-3, advancing to the third round.

No. 3 seed Jessica Pegula recovered from a set down to defeat Camila Giorgi 3-6, 6-1, 6-2, while Linda Noskova qualified ahead of Amanda Anisimova 7-6, 6-3.

Andrey Rublev got his revenge from Doha, cruising over Jiri Lehecka 6-4, 6-2, and Taro Daniel got a big 7-6(5), 0-6, 6-3 victory over Matteo Berrettini.

Xinyu Wang got a big straight sets win of 6-2, 6-3 over Ekaterina Alexandrova, and Coco Gauff overcame a second set scare from Cristina Bucsa, winning in 6-2, 6-4.

Ugo Humbert came back from a 1-4 deficit in the second set to take out Denis Shapovalov 7-5, 6-4. Maria Sakkari also survived coming from a set down to defeat Shelby Rogers 2-6, 6-4, 6-0.

Grigor Dimitrov retired with an injury in the deciding set against Kubler, sending the Aussie through to the third round.

Then Alexander Zverev began his campaign with an easy 6-3, 6-1 win over Pedro Cachin, dropping just four games in the match.

Anhelina Kalinina came back from 2-5 in the third set to beat Linda Fruhvirtova 4-6, 6-4, 7-5, while Barbora Krejcikova cruised over Dayana Yastremska 6-1, 6-2.

Jelena Ostapenko also advanced by defeating Aliaksandra Sasnovich 7-5, 3-6, 6-2, while Petra Kvitova moved past Mandlik 6-1, 7-5. Ostapenko and Kvitova will face each other in the third round.

Casper Ruud got his third win of the year, rolling over Diego Schwartzman 6-2, 6-3, and Cameron Norrie came through, defeating Tung-Lin Wu 6-2, 6-4.

Christian Garin crushed Yoshihito Nishioka 6-4, 6-0, and Emil Ruusuvuori beat Roberto Bautista-Agut 7-6, 6-2.

No. 2 seed Stefanos Tsitsipas lost to Jordan Thompson 7-6(0), 4-6, 7-6(5), taking away his chances of being world No. 1 at the end of the tournament.

An impressive win for Jil Teichmann, who won the battle of the Swiss, overpowering No. 9 seed Belinda Bencic 3-6, 6-3, 6-3.

Donna Vekic, who just won a title on Sunday, succumbed to Lesia Tsurenko 2-6, 6-2, 6-2.
