Dessers completed a permanent transfer from KRC Genk to the Italian Serie A club on Wednesday for a fee reported to be about €6.5m.

The fee would make Dessers the second most-expensive signing at Cremonese, after only Okereke who was signed for about €10m from Club Brugge earlier this summer.

Following the confirmation of Dessers' transfer, Okereke was one of the first Cremonese players to welcome the former Feyenoord attacker to the club.

In an interview with Gazzetta Fellow Sport as reported by CalcioCremonese, Okereke noted that the experience Dessers brings to the team would be very important for the coming season.

Okereke said: "I faced Dessers when he was playing for Genk and I got to see him in the Conference League last year. I am very happy that he comes to us, his experience could help us a lot."

Cremonese also signed 23-year-old Italian striker Frank Tsadjout from AC Milan, a player Okereke believes has enough quality and will to improve himself.

"Tsadjout? I played against it (sic) in Belgium. He is a boy with great human qualities and he always tries to help the team and improve himself," Okereke concluded.

Cremonese are back in the Italian Serie A for their first top-flight season in 26 years after being relegated during the 1995/96 season.

They will travel to the Stadio Artemio Franchi on Sunday, August 14 for the first Serie A match of the 2022/23 season against Fiorentina.
