Osimhen signs, Sterling out: Chelsea and Maresca's dream end to 2024/25 transfer window

Chelsea's season began on a sour note with a 2-0 defeat to defending champions Manchester City and the difference in quality was alarming.

The Blues have no attacking threat of the quality of Erling Haaland and Jeremy Doku, both of whom tormented the Chelsea defence for most of the game.

Manager Enzo Maresca has signed 10 players this summer but the missing piece is still a high-level attacker to bury whatever chances Nicolas Jackson is poised to squander.

The best name on the market is Napoli's Victor Osimhen. The Nigerian wants out of Naples and after PSG decided to pursue Ademola Lookman, the door is seemingly wide open to Chelsea.

However, finding an agreement remains the major issue, with both parties seemingly intent on playing the waiting game.

Should Osimhen arrive at Stamford Bridge before the close of the window, he will slot right into the centre-forward position.

Chelsea are reportedly looking to offload Raheem Sterling, and the arrival of Pedro Neto from Wolves has pushed the ex-Manchester City man closer to the exit. Clubs in Saudi Arabia and Serie A side Juventus have been credited with an interest, making his exit, only a matter of time.

Osimhen should lead the line, flanked by the excellent Cole Palmer, Christopher Nkunku and new boy Pedro Neto.
