Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen has revealed that he now supports Mexican side Cruz Azul in solidarity with his former international teammate and friend, Christian Ebere, who recently joined the club.
The 27-year-old joined the Liga MX side on February 6th from Uruguayan side Plaza Colonia for a reported €1.27 million. He has been a journeyman since winning the U-17 World Cup in Chile with the Golden Eaglets, and Osimhen, who was his teammate in Emmanuel Amunike’s triumphant side, has followed his career at every turn.
What Osimhen said
Osimhen has kept tabs on his friend and former teammate, Ebere's, career, which has now led him to supporting Mexican powerhouse Cruz Azul.
He revealed this to TNT Sports following his impactful performance which helped Galatasaray beat Juventus in the Champions League Playoffs first-leg clash, lauding Ebere’s quality and work ethic as he shared his excitement about the former U-17 international’s move.
“Ebere is like a brother to me. He’s a top guy, I like him a lot, and he’s a workaholic,” Osimhen said, per ESPN Deportes. “He’s always running around in the gym; he’s always there. He’s the last player to leave after training. And I’m happy that he’s doing his thing, fulfilling his dreams.
“The Mexican League is very difficult, but I think he has a big heart and can adapt to any league; he has talent. I’m very happy for him and I wish him all the best. Wherever he goes, I will support that club," said the person, who added that he is now a new Cruz Azul supporter.
