Osimhen breaks Eto’o’s record to become the highest-scoring African in one season

Osimhen’s 22nd goal eclipsed Samuel Eto’o’s record of 21 goals set in the 2010/11 season when the Cameroonian striker played with Inter, making the Lagos-born forward the highest-scoring African player in a single Serie A season.

The Super Eagles forward has been on course to break Eto’o’s record for the most goals by an African player in a single season and has finally surpassed the great Cameroonian with his goal against Udinese.

Osimhen surpasses Goerge Weah to claim Serie A record

Not satisfied with one record, Osimhen also equalled another African great, George Weah, to become the African player with the most Serie A goals of all time.

Osimhen’s 46th goal in his Serie A career has seen him draw level with Weah and above every other African player in the league’s history to continue his impressive Italian legacy.

Weah scored 46 goals in 114 Serie A games playing for Milan in Serie A between 1995 and 2000, while Osimhen has equalled that goal tally in only 78 matches for Napoli since he joined the club in 2020.
