Osimhen better than ex-Manchester United No 7- Former Napoli star

Former Napoli star Emanuele Calaiò believes Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen has been a better player for the club than Edinson Cavani. 

Cavani was once the top striker in Naples, having played for the club from 2011 to 2013 before joining Paris Saint-Germain. 

During his time at Napoli, Cavani was a fan-favourite, scoring an impressive 104 goals in 138 games for the club. 

Cavani left the club as a favourite, but Calaio, who played with the Uruguayn, says Osimhen has more qualities than the former Manchester United seven. 

Osimhen is Napoli’s new hero after leading the club to their first Serie A title in 33 years last season. 

The Nigeria international scored 26 league goals last season, including the title-winning goal against Udinese. 

Osimhen has continued in the same vein this season, scoring a brace on the opening day of the season to help Napoli begin their title defence with a 3-1 win over Frosinone. 

And having watched both Osimhen and Cavani for Napoli, Calaio believes Osimhen is better than all the strikers that have played for Napoli. 

“I think Osimhen is better than Cavani. He is different from all the strikers that have played for Napoli,” Calaio told Napoli Magazine.

“He has enthusiasm, hunger and long levers. He keeps getting better year after year. From the first Serie A game in Frosinone, his desire to do well for the Azzurri was evident.

“For me, he's stronger even than Cavani, he improves year after year,” he added. 

Osimhen had a decent start to life in Naples but he has grown to become one of the best strikers in the world. 

The Super Eagles star still has two years left on his contract in Naples.
