‘Omoluabi daadaa’ - Fans react to Lookman thanking Nigerians in Yoruba after winning CAF POTY Award

Lookman was named the CAF POTY Award winner a few minutes ago, beating Moroccan star Ahcraf Hakimi and others.

Despite rumours of leaked information declaring Hakimi as the winner earlier today, the Super Eagles star proved doubters wrong to emerge as the winner of the award.

The winger's impressive performance last season for both club and country has earned him huge recognition in Africa.

Lookman has shocked Nigerians by showing he knows how to speak his local dialect after winning the CAF Award.

Following his name being announced as the winner of the award, the forward walked up to the stage to give his speech.

He mentioned that he wants to first speak his local language, which is his ‘Yoruba’ to thank Nigerians for their support.

Lookman said in a video posted by Asiwaju Lerry on X, “Ekale, mo ki gbobgo yin, ese, mo dupe.”

The Super Eagles winger went on to thank his family, fans and teammates for helping him achieve this feat.

Fans took to X to react to Lookman’s appreciation in Yoruba language, with one saying, “We are proud of him ❤️❤️, Yoruba to the world 🙌🙌”

Last season, Lookman was instrumental for Atalanta, helping them win their first European trophy, defeating Bayer Leverkusen in the final and scoring a hat trick to set a new record.

He has continued with his impressive form this season, scoring eight goals and providing four assists for Atalanta in the Serie A and are top the Serie A table.
