Booma may be struggling in the race for promotion but their striker Omedi is not in his race for the golden boot.

Omedi has netted 19 times for the Fort Portal side to equal Edrisa Lubega’s record 19 goals scored in the 2016/17 season for Proline.

The Lang’o Province striker has eleven more games to set his own record in his first season since returning from studies.

“I want to set the records because it’s every striker’s dream but most importantly, I want to push the team and see if we can catch up and gain promotion,” the jolly and calm officer attached to the Uganda Prisons told Pulse Sports. He is also a trained nurse.

And where else to set that record other than at home against the poorest defence in the league, Nothern Gateway?

Booma will host the bottom-placed Lira side on Thursday as they seek to keep the chasing pack at arm’s distance. The team is currently in fifth place but trailing Mbarara City in fourth place by nine points.

“We had some targets as a team at the beginning and still believe we can achieve because we’re determined to do that collectively,” he adds.

Northern Gateway sits at the bottom with only 14 points from 19 games. They have conceded 37.
