NPFL: Obioma-inspired Enyimba let it rain on Gombe United in 5-goal thriller

Eight-time NPFL champions Enyimba have sent a message of intent to other teams following an emphatic win over Gombe United in Abia.

Emeka Obioma was the star of the day after he netted an excellent hat-trick to fire Enyimba to a 5-0 win over Gombe on Sunday.

The People’s Elephant were dominant and comfortable as the sealed victory to put themselves in good position to make the top three.

Obioma scored one in the first half and added two more in the second to take his tally to 14 goals this season in the NPFL.

It was a superb performance from the talented forward who took things personally with the visitors from Gombe.

He opened the floodgates in the 17th minute before Ikenna Cooper doubled the lead for Enyimba heading into the break.

Sadiq Abubakar made it 3-0 before two late goals, including a penalty sealed the deal for Finidi George and his Elephant.

Following the impressive win in Aba, Enyimba have cemented their position in the top three as the race for the Super 6 will go down the wire.

The Elephant sit second on 31 points, two ahead of the chasing pack heading into the final game of the season next weekend.
