Noah Lyles: World's fastest man demands more awards given than just Athlete of the Year
The world's fastest man Noah Lyles is in the news again with demands at the World Athletics for the Athlete of the Year Awards.
Lyles is known to be vocal always when it comes to the growth of athletics, and this time the triple world champion feels there should be more awards given in a season than just an overall single one.
This demand is following the release of the eleven nominees by the World Athletics for the Women's Athlete of the Year Award.
He posted on his X page (formerly Twitter) his thoughts on having more and examples of such awards that can be awarded.
"I feel like there should be more awards given than just athlete of the year. What about
- Performance of the year
- Athlete of the year for jumps, throws, distance and sprints
- most improved athlete"

The American speedster has brought more recognition to the sport on and off track this year, after winning the 100m, 200m, and 4x100m world titles at the World Championships in Budapest, thereby making him one of the most valuable athletes at the championship.
Meanwhile, the World Athletics Men and Women's Athlete of the Year Award is the highest honour an athlete earns, after outstanding accomplishments during that season.
