Speaking after the hard-fought win, Daga, who plays for Molde FK in Norway, admitted the encounter tested the Flying Eagles’ resilience.

“First of all, I want to say thank you to God for the victory. It was not an easy game, but at the end we got the win. I am very happy,” Daga told FIFA.com.

He added, “Thanks to the staff, the coaches, and my teammates who worked hard for this. Now we look forward to the next game.”

With three points from two matches, Nigeria remain in contention for a spot in the Round of 16. Their final group-stage fixture against Colombia on Monday morning will be decisive.

Daga stressed that the players are determined to build on the momentum and secure another win.

“The next [game] is to play Colombia in the last group match. We are hoping to get a victory again so we can go to the next stage,” the captain added.

Nigeria are aiming to add to their illustrious history at the U-20 World Cup, where they have finished as runners-up twice (1989 and 2005) and reached the semi-finals on multiple occasions.
