Nigeria vs Cameroon: Time and where to watch Super Falcons Olympic qualifier
Following a 16-year break, Nigeria, nine-time African champions, will resume their quest for a spot in the Women's Olympic Football Tournament in Douala, the industrial and economic center of Cameroon.
The Super Falcons' last Olympic appearance came back in China in 2008 when they were eliminated in the group stage.
Cameroon ended their hopes of qualifying for London 2012, while Equatorial Guinea and Cote d'Ivoire were responsible as the Super Falcons lost out on qualifying for Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020, respectively.
The Falcons now need to get by Cameroonian to advance to the ultimate qualification round after eliminating Ethiopia in the second round.
Officials for Super Falcons vs Cameroon
Ugandan referees will officiate the Super Falcons' first-leg matchup against the Indomitable Lionesses in Douala's Stade de la Reunification.
With assistance from Diana Murungi, Jane Mutonyi, and Lydia Nantabo, Shamirah Nabadda will serve as the referee.
Lukusa Kanjinga (DRC) will serve as the commissioner, and Khadija Rezzag (Morocco) as the referee assessor.
Nigeria vs Cameroon winner to face South Africa vs Tanzania winner
In their quest to make it to the Olympics for the first time since Beijing 2008, the Super Falcons take on Cameroon, who defeated Uganda 3-2 overall.
In seven meetings with Cameroon, Nigeria has won five and drawn one.
The Super Falcons defeated their rivals from Cameroon 1-0 in their previous meeting, which took place in July at the WAFCON in Morocco last year.
After that, to secure the ticket, the overall winners of the third-round match between Nigeria and Cameroon will have to compete in a playoff against the winners of the third-round match between South Africa and Tanzania.
The game between Nigeria and Cameroon will take place on Friday, February 23, 2024.
