Neymar undergoes 'successful' surgery in Qatar
Paris Saint-Germain's Brazilian superstar Neymar has started the road to recovery from ankle ligament damage with a successful surgery in Doha. but doctors are yet to give a substantial date for his return as he begins physiotherapy
Neymar undergoes successful surgery
Neymar was stretchered off in PSG’s 4-3 win against Lille in mid-February and it was later revealed that he had suffered significant damage to his ankle ligament and would be unable to return until the end of the season.
The 31-year-old’s first phase of recovery is over, according to the doctors who performed the surgery on his ankle ligament, and he should be starting physiotherapy in a few days.
Hakim Chalabi, a medical director at the Aspetar sports hospital in Doha, Qatar, where Neymar’s surgery was conducted, spoke to AFP, saying, “Neymar underwent surgery yesterday, and it was successful. The player is doing very well and is happy.”
Neymar to return to his best levels after recovery
Chalabi also said Neymar “will need to use crutches for a few days, but he should then be able to resume strength training,” but did not give a specific time for recovery for the PSG star’s return, saying, “We will evaluate the timing of his return to the field later. It is a little early to talk about it now.”
The Doctor, however, stated that Neymar will be able to reach his normal levels when he returns from the injury as there will be less risk of the injury recurring.
PSG will be hopeful that the doctor’s words ring true and that Neymar is able to reach the heights he has recently reached with PSG.
The Brazilian was having a great season with PSG before his injury and had contributed 18 goals and 17 assists in 29 matches.
