Real Madrid’s latest addition, Turkish midfielder Arda Guler, has reportedly been promised one of Los Blancos’ most iconic jerseys by a legend of the club.
Turkish starlet Guler signs for Real Madrid
Guler snubbed advances from Real Madrid’s archrivals Barcelona to seal a move to the Bernabeu from Fenerbahce, making him an instant hit at the club before he has even played a single game for them.
Another Real Madrid star who chose Los Blancos over Blaugrana, Luka Modric, has reportedly promised to hand over his iconic number 10 jersey to the Turkish youngster when his time at the club comes to an end.
Guler reportedly promised iconic Real Madrid jersey number
Modric turned down a move to oil-rich Saudi Arabia to stay with Real Madrid until the end of the 2023/24 season, and according to Turkish journalist Volkan Demir, the Croatian veteran has promised the Turkish youngster his current number when he leaves the club, presumably at the end of the next campaign.
Guler will wear the number 24 jersey in his first season with Los Blancos after sealing a €20 million move to the Bernabeu.
The 18-year-old midfielder wore the number 10 in his final season at Fenerbahce in honour of his creativity, and if Modric’s promise rings true, he could do the same at Real Madrid.

Guler could wear the same jersey as one of his football idols, Mesut Ozil, who was at Real Madrid between 2010 and 2013, as well as other Los Blancos icons including Modric, Raul, and Luis Figo.
