‘My mum is Nigerian’ — Arsenal youngster gives Super Eagles hope
Arsenal’s rising prospect Marley Frohock has opened the door to a potential future with the Super Eagles after revealing that his mother is Nigerian.
The 17-year-old forward, who remains uncapped at any level, now stands firmly on Nigeria’s radar as he continues his rapid rise through the Hale End system.
Young Arsenal forward confirms Nigerian eligibility
Promising Arsenal striker Frohock has publicly confirmed that he qualifies to represent Nigeria, offering fresh hope to Super Eagles fans eager to see more dual-nation talents commit to the country.
Born in Basildon in the United Kingdom, the versatile attacker is eligible for England through his father but has yet to feature for either nation at youth or senior level.
Frohock, who joined Arsenal’s academy from Billericay Town in May 2022 after catching the attention of coaches in the Essex Cup Final, signed a scholarship with the Gunners in 2025. He made his Arsenal U18s debut as a schoolboy in a 3-2 defeat to Norwich City in October 2024.
Reflecting on his heritage, the teenager said, "In terms of my family background, my mum is Nigerian and my Dad is English, with a bit of Dutch heritage too."
His encouraging development saw him train with Arsenal’s first team before matches against Manchester City and Sunderland, further boosting his reputation.
Super Eagles monitoring Frohock as Nigeria-eligible talents rise at Hale End
Frohock’s admission instantly adds him to a growing list of Hale End prospects eligible to represent the Super Eagles.
He features alongside fellow Arsenal youngsters Josh Nichols and Andre Harriman-Annous, who also have Nigerian mothers.
His pathway into football began early through his father’s influence, with Frohock explaining, "I got into football through my dad. He encouraged me to start kicking a ball, and he'd played semi-professional level himself."
The Nigerian Football Federation will be keeping close tabs as the youngster develops, especially with his versatility across the forward line making him an attractive long-term option for the Super Eagles.
