The defender joined the Gunners from Bologna for just under £20 million in August 2021.

However, due to injury, the Japanese international played just six minutes last season and is currently sidelined for at least another four to five months.

Arsenal and Takehiro Tomiyasu have mutually agreed to terminate the defender's contract, effectively ending his time at the Emirates, according to the BBC, via Sportal.

Given the circumstances, both parties decided to part ways after discussing a way forward for the player.

The 26-year-old Tomiyasu had one year remaining on his contract, with an option for a further 12 months.

He made 79 appearances for the club and has failed to stay fit during his five years at the club.
