Mohammed Bajaber Reveals How Living in Saudi Arabia Shaped His Football Career
Harambee Stars forward Mohammed Bajaber has shared the path he has walked to become the superstar that he is now.
Bajaber has become a fan-favourite since making his Harambee Stars debut in March this year when he scored a wonder goal as Benni McCarthy’s men came from behind to draw 3-3 with The Gambia in a 2026 World Cup qualifier.
The attacker says his football career was shaped when he lived in Saudi Arabia as a kid before he later moved to Kenya and honed his skills further.

“I lived in Saudi when I was 0-7 years and I was playing out with friends. We would play out just for fun and that is how I developed interest in the game,” Bajaber said on Radio Jambo.
Bajaber’s Talent Blossomed After Returning to Kenya
“I came back to Kenya and joined Ligi Ndogo when I was nine. I played for my school Premier Academy and there is a great coach who started Star Field Academy and took me there. I played there for two years before I went to Nairobi City Stars. In between, I had a trial in Denmark,” he added.
Star Field Elite Academy, based in Parklands, Nairobi, took special interest in young Bajaber, developing his talent but also ensuring that he remained disciplined and humble.
Through the connections of one of the academy’s directors Robert Muthomi, Bajaber secured a six-week trial at Nairobi City Stars under the watchful eye of former coach Nicholas Muyoti and in February 2022, Simba wa Nairobi singed him.

Bajaber was signed initially on loan for the second part of the 2021-22 season and at the end of the campaign, City Stars extended his loan deal for a year before signing him permanently in 2024.
“Coach Muyoti changed my mindset, advised me and I was almost being released by City Stars but he talked to the board to give me a chance. I cannot thank him more,” added Bajaber.
The 22-year-old left City Stars in February this year for Kenya Police where he played a key role in their run to the FKF Premier League title as he weighed in with five goals.
He is now looking to develop his career further and has ambitions of joining paid ranks abroad and realising his dream of playing in the prestigious UEFA Champions League.
