Super Eagles forward Terem Moffi has revealed the inspiration behind his stunning Europa Conference League goal against Basel on Thursday.
Moffi scores incredible goal against Basel
The Nigerian forward scored twice in the quarterfinal first leg away to Basel, netting two goals in the first-half to help Nice to a first-leg draw.
Moffi’s second goal, a splendid overhead kick, earned him the goal of the week award, and the Super Eagles forward noted that he found inspiration to try it after watching a fellow pro pull off a similar trick less than a week earlier.

He said, “It was a special goal, a special moment. I would never have imagined scoring such a goal. Honestly, I had no idea what I was doing. I saw the ball coming and I tried.
“The goal of the year? Maybe not. But maybe the goal of the competition.”
Moffi’s goal inspired by Erling Haaland
When asked why such an audacious thought came to mind, Moffi said he was inspired to try the move after watching Manchester City’s Erling Haaland score a similar goal in the Premier League against Southampton.
The Norwegian scored his 43rd goal of the season with a scissor kick of his own which captured the attention of fans all over the world, including, as it were, Moffi.
Speaking after the game, Moffi said, “To be honest, it’s not something you can prepare for. I saw Haaland do it last weekend and I was like, ‘Why not?'”
