Mikel Arteta’s future: Is Arsenal manager under pressure with Berta’s arrival imminent?

Mikel Arteta's position as Arsenal manager is not under immediate threat, despite recent criticism from some fans.

The club is set to appoint Andrea Berta as their new sporting director, a move designed to support the Gunners boss and strengthen the club's long-term strategy.

According to Football Insider, Arsenal's hierarchy remain committed to the Spanish manager, viewing him as the ideal manager to lead the club forward. 

They believe that Berta's arrival will help alleviate pressure on Arteta by overseeing transfer dealings and streamlining the club's recruitment process.

Arsenal have been without a sporting director since Edu's departure in November. Berta's arrival is expected to fill this void and strengthen the club's structure. 

Arteta and Edu had a strong working relationship and the club hope that the new sporting director will build a similar rapport with the manager.

As per the report, the soon-to-be-appointed sporting director’s involvement is seen as a sign of the London club’s long-term vision, with the club aiming to challenge for major honours in the coming seasons. 

While silverware is desired, Arteta is not under extreme pressure to win the Champions League this season.

Arsenal return to Champions League action on Wednesday, having claimed a healthy 7-1 first-leg advantage over PSV in the reverse fixture. 

Arteta’s side will face Real or Atletico Madrid in the quarter-final.
