Messi created MLS history during Inter Miami's 6-2 rout of the New York Red Bulls by becoming the first player to register five assists in a game and six-goal contributions in a match.

With six goals in 36 minutes in the second half, Inter Miami's forward Messi scored his finest game since he and Argentina won the World Cup in Qatar in 2022.
Messi opened the scoring in the 50th minute, and Matias Rojas, who recently joined Inter Miami, scored again in the 48th and 62nd minutes.

In the 68th, 75th, and 81st minutes of the match, Luis Suárez scored a hat trick to seal the victory.
In just eight regular-season games in 2024, Messi leads MLS with 10 goals and 12 assists.
In extra time, the eight-time Ballon d'Or winner came close to scoring another goal.
Messi also made MLS history by being the third player to contribute to multiple goals in his first eight games of a season.
