Mckinstry urges focus ahead of Gor Mahia title run-in

It's squeaky bum time in the Kenya Premier League as record league champions Gor Mahia and Tusker FC continue their battle for the title.

Johnathan Mckinstry's K'Ogalo desperately needs maximum points ahead of their penultimate game against Kakamega Homeboyz on Wednesday afternoon, with the former Uganda Cranes head coach calling for focus.

"We enter the final five days of the 2022/23 season of the @The OfficialKPL season with clear objectives," tweMcKinstry tweeted.

"The challenge in front of us is significant, but our focus is locked on the target as we move forward in pursuit of success," he added.

Gor Mahia leads the table standings with 67 points, two ahead of second-placed Tusker FC, who host Posta Rangers on the same day.

With two games left, a loss for Tusker on Wednesday with Gor Mahia winning their fixture would grant the green army a record 20th league title and their first since the 2019/20 season.

Gor Mahia is also home to Ugandan trio Patrick Kaddu, Shafik Kagimu and Lwasa Peter, who have been instrumental in guiding the side to the top position this season.

Also up for grabs is the Kenya Premier League golden boot, with Gor Mahia forward Benson Omala, who has scored 25 goals, one ahead of former AFC Leopards forward Elvis Rupia, currently on the books of Kenya Police FC.

K'Ogalo and the brewers conclude their campaigns away from home with Gor Mahia facing City Stars, while Tusker FC faces Vihiga Bullets on Saturday.
