Marc Guiu scores hat trick as Chelsea thrash Shamrock to continue unbeaten run in Conference League
The Blues are currently the league leaders in the Conference League, with 18 points in their first six games.
They have not lost or drawn any game since the start of the tournament and are the favourite to win the competition.
Maresca’s men have now extended their unbeaten run in the competition this season with a 5-1 win against Shamrock.
As it happened
Chelsea made nine changes from their weekend win against Brentford. Mykhailo Mudryk was absent from the game after testing positive for a banned substance and is under investigation.
The Blues dominated most of the possession and struck first in the 22nd minute from a Marc Guiu rebound.
However, four minutes later, Shamrock Rovers got the equaliser from a corner kick that was volleyed in by Markus Poom.
Chelsea went on to score three more goals, with Marc Guiu scoring his first hat trick and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall also getting on the score sheet before the halftime break.
Enzo Maresca’s men extended their lead in the second half, with Marc Cucurella scoring to make it 5-1.
Chelsea controlled the remainder of the game until the final whistle was blown by the referee.
