The GOAT! - Man United fans react to Alex Ferguson's return to Old Trafford before controversial win vs Wolves

Manchester United fans were delighted to see their legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson return to Old Trafford for their opening match of the season.

The Reds took on Wolves in a thrilling encounter at the Theatre of Dreams.

Wolves looked the better side in the opening half, constantly putting the Red Devils under pressure.

However, both teams went into the break with neither side yet to break the deadlock.

United finally opened the scoring after Raphael Varane headed home in the 76th minute to put the hosts 1-0 up.

But controversy followed in added time after Red Devils goalkeeper Andre Onana clattered into Sasa Kalajdzic late in the game.

Wolves appealed for a penalty but saw their calls controversially shrugged after a VAR check as the hosts recorded an opening matchday win in the 2023-24 Premier League season.

Ahead of yesterday’s win for Man United, fans reacted on social media after a video of club legend Sir. Alex Ferguson making his way through pitchside at Old Trafford.

The video on Twitter which garnered over 5.5 million views, and 56K likes on X saw a number of Red Devils faithfuls hail the club’s greatest manager of all time.
