Wolves looked the better side in the opening half, constantly putting the Red Devils under pressure.

United finally opened the scoring after Raphael Varane headed home in the 76th minute to put the hosts 1-0 up.

But controversy followed in added time after Red Devils goalkeeper Andre Onana clattered into Sasa Kalajdzic late in the game.

Wolves appealed for a penalty but saw their calls controversially shrugged after a VAR check as the hosts recorded an opening matchday win in the 2023-24 Premier League season.
