Mamelodi Sundowns Legend on What Miguel Cardoso Must Do to Keep His Job Amid Pitso Mosimane Talk
Mamelodi Sundowns legend Eric Ramasike believes the club's upcoming fixtures will be a critical test for head coach Miguel Cardoso, potentially deciding his future at the helm.
Recent reports have suggested that the reigning champions are already considering a future without Miguel Cardoso and are merely waiting for the opportune moment to make a change.
Speaking to KickOff, Eric Ramasike highlighted the importance of the team's return to action after the Africa Cup of Nations break, ahead of their encounter against Orbit College.
Eric Ramasike: How Miguel Cardoso Can Maintain His Place
"The first game is against Orbit College, where Monnapule Saleng was keeping himself fit," he noted.
"It's our first game after AFCON, so I expect the boys to be hungry for a win because they are gunning for the league title. We have very good players compared to Orbit."
The former player acknowledged the pressure on Mamelodi Sundowns, although there is still a significant portion of the season left to play.
Eric Ramasike also addressed the swirling rumours about a potential return for former coach Pitso Mosimane. "At this stage, all I hear is hearsay about the club speaking to Pitso Mosimane, but to be honest, I don't know if it's true," he said.
"But the way I see it, Cardoso will be gone if he loses two or three games," Ramasike added bluntly. "Mamelodi Sundowns is a team that wants to win every game. They want to do well in CAF, and the league title is non-negotiable. If we lose two or three games, that will be the end of it for the coach."
He concluded by pointing out the growing dissatisfaction among the supporters. "The thing is, even the Sundowns fans are not happy with the performance of Miguel Cardoso."
Meanwhile, on Monday night, Mamelodi Sundowns moved to the top of the Premiership table after defeating Orbit College 2-0 in their first match of the year.
