Magical 7: Ronaldo makes Euros history with latest assist
Portugal legend Cristiano Ronaldo claimed another piece of the European Championships’ history after recording his first assist of Euro 2024.
The Al Nassr star man provided the assist for Portugal’s third goal during their Group F win over Turkey to climb to the top of the competition’s all-time assist chart.
Ronaldo creates Euros assist history
The Portugal captain had the chance to score with Selecao already 2-0 up against Turkey but unselfishly chose to play a square pass to the on-rushing Bruno Fernandes to give his side a 3-0 lead.
The assist for Bruno Fernandes’ goal was Ronaldo’s 7th in European Championships and made the former Real Madrid and Manchester United star the player with the most goals provided in the competition’s recorded history.
Having played in six different editions of the Euros Ronaldo became the first player to provide seven assists since 1986 when records began.
Other records Ronaldo holds
In addition to being the player with the most assists, Ronaldo is also the record holder for goals, with 14 strikes in Euros finals, nine more than second-placed Michel Platini.

Ronaldo is also the player with the most tournament appearances (6) and games played (27) in the competition’s history, and the second oldest outfield player to have features in the finals, behind only teammate Pepe.
Having already led Portugal to victory at Euro 2016, Ronaldo will be hoping to repeat the feat in what could be his final tournament appearance for his country.
