Lionel Messi meets Will Smith as Inter Miami beat Real Salt Lake in MLS Opener
In their 2024 Major League Soccer home opener, Inter Miami CF defeated Real Salt Lake 2-0 at Chase Stadium.
In the opening game of Inter Miami's 2024 regular season, midfielder Diego Gómez and striker Robert Taylor both registered goals, while captain Lionel Messi and newcomers Luis Suárez recorded their first assists of the season.

In the 39th minute, the hosts took the lead thanks to a pass from Busquets to Messi in the middle of the pitch, who turned and fed Taylor a through ball on the right side of the box.
The play was subsequently completed by Taylor, who beat the goalkeeper with a first-time strike to the far post to give Inter Miami a 1-0 lead and the opening goal of the 2024 MLS regular season.
Messi linked up with American rapper, actor, and film producer Willard Carroll Smith II during the halftime break.
Inter Miami's second goal of the game came about thanks to a fantastic team play in the 83rd minute.
Gómez passed the ball to Messi a little distance beyond the halfway line, and the Argentine quickly dribbled towards the box before sending it to Suárez on the edge.
The Uruguayan striker then set up Gómez for a right-side finish to the far post, extending Inter Miami's advantage.
