Lewis Bandi Stays Silent on Gor Mahia Move as He Puts Full Focus on Harambee Stars
Harambee Stars defender Lewis Bandi has chosen to remain silent after his unveiling as a Gor Mahia player a few days ago.
The former AFC Leopards assistant captain’s unveiling at Gor Mahia has led to backlash, with fans questioning why chairman Boniface Ambani would let such a valuable player go.
However, Boniface Ambani pointed out that he was surprised, just like the fans, to learn about the unveiling of the player on social media.

He revealed that he was unaware of what Lewis Bandi was planning, despite being in constant communication with him during the first two matches of the African Nations Championship (CHAN 2024).
“Lewis Bandi's case is very disappointing. I have maintained constant contact with the player, including the two opening games for Kenya where he didn't play, continuously encouraging while reminding him that his time will eventually come,” Boniface Ambani said in an exclusive interview with Fred Arocho.
“I was surprised like anyone else to see him with Gor officials signing the contract, he never joined the rest when Leopards started training or even the mandatory medical test before renewal of his contract at the season opener, all we can do now is wish him all the best."
Lewis Bandi: When Given a Chance, I Give My Best
Meanwhile, Lewis Bandi also opened up about cementing his place in the starting 11 after being given a chance in the Harambee Stars match against Morocco.
In the match, Harambee Stars claimed a 1-0 victory and even as Harambee Stars claimed a 1-0 victory over Zambia, Lewis Bandi was a constant throughout.
However, he pointed out that in the Harambee Stars' match against Zambia, the players did not capitalise on the chances created, something they need to work on ahead of their next match.
“When given a chance, I always take it and give my level best. I wouldn’t say that I’m much better than other players, but I’m grateful for the chances I’m given,” Lewis Bandi said.
“We take every game as it comes, and we always try to go for positive results in every match that comes.”
Lewis Bandi added that the team expected to continue working hard because the match against Madagascar on Friday, August 22, would not be easy.
He noted that Madagascar had not reached the quarterfinals by luck but through hard work. Bandi urged the fans to come out and support the Harambee Stars and expressed hope that the team would deliver the best possible results.
