Leeds United’s resurgence will be put firmly under the spotlight on Saturday as they host Premier League pace-setters Arsenal at Elland Road, a ground where the visitors have enjoyed plenty of success over the years.

Leeds United vs Arsenal preview

Leeds arrive at this fixture in quietly impressive form, with Monday night’s 1-1 draw away at Everton extending their unbeaten league run to nine matches and lifting them six points clear of the relegation zone, a position that would have seemed optimistic earlier in the campaign.

The fact Daniel Farke’s side were frustrated not to come away with all three points at Goodison Park underlines how far they have progressed.

Since the start of December, no Premier League side has been beaten fewer times than Leeds, with just one defeat in that period.

Elland Road has also become a far more difficult place to visit, with the Whites now unbeaten in five home league matches (W3, D2), their longest such run in a single top-flight season since May 2021.

Arsenal make the trip north still sitting four points clear at the summit, but with a slight wobble creeping into their league form.

Last weekend’s dramatic 3-2 defeat to Manchester United stretched their winless Premier League run to three matches (D2, L1), raising questions about whether the pressure of a title race is beginning to tell.

Mikel Arteta’s men offered an emphatic response in midweek Europe, edging past Kairat Almaty 3-2 to complete a perfect eight wins from eight in the Champions League league phase.

Domestically, they remain a formidable travelling force, having lost just once in their last nine away league games (W5, D3), and they have not suffered consecutive Premier League defeats since December 2023.

Leeds United vs Arsenal head-to-head history

Arsenal have claimed victory in each of the last seven meetings between the sides and are unbeaten at Elland Road since November 2000 (W6, D2).

That dominance will only strengthen belief within the Gunners’ camp as they look to steady the ship in the title race.

Leeds United vs Arsenal team news

Arsenal are expected to welcome back both William Saliba and Jurrien Timber after the pair missed the midweek European win as a precaution.

Neither issue is thought to be serious, leaving Max Dowman (ankle) as the only likely absentee for Arteta.

Leeds, meanwhile, remain without Jaka Bijol, who is facing around a month on the sidelines with a thigh injury.

There is more positive news elsewhere, with Gabriel Gudmundsson (adductor) and Daniel James (thigh) both pushing for a return in time to face the league leaders.
