The team was selected from a pool of 38 players who have been holding training for the past four weeks at the Nairobi Gymkhana.

Nairobi has the bulk of the boys in the squad, with 16 making the cut, while Mombasa and Nakuru provide each player.

Team Kenya will participate in the final qualifiers in Tanzania that will take place between 23 and 29 July, where they will join other Division 1 qualifiers in Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Namibia, Uganda, and Tanzania.

Irungu’s charges made it to the last round after beating Sierra Leone by 81 runs in ICC World Cup Africa Division 2 qualifiers in October last year in Abuja, Nigeria.

Eleven teams automatically qualified for the U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup Sri Lanka 2024 as the best-placed Full Member nations from the previous event in 2022.

Qualified teams are Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, Ireland, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, West Indies, and Zimbabwe, and the rest five are set to come from across the five regions in the world.
