Borussia Dortmund forward Karim Adeyemi has explained the reasons behind his frequent visits to Nigeria.

Adeyemi is back in the country to continue his investment in football academies in a bid to help more Nigerian talents grow in the game.

Per a Soccernet report, the 21-year-old was spotted in Ibadan witnessing activities at the Karim Adeyemi Foundation, an Academy at the Olubadan Stadium. 

Born in Germany, Munich to be precise, to a Nigerian father and a Romanian mother, Adeyemi has already pledged his international future to the German national team.

Karim Adeyemi is deeply connected to his Nigerian roots.

However, despite playing for Die Mannschaft, the Dortmund forward remains deeply connected to his father’s land.

The forward has now provided insight to his constant visit to Nigeria, sighting his football journey which began in Munich and Ibadan.

“As I said, I think I have my root here,” he stated. “My father is from here, and his heart is still here in Nigeria. Of course, my heart is also here in Nigeria.”

“[There is] a story of how I came here to Nigeria. I saw the kids playing football on the street, and I played with them. It’s a small story, but it touched my heart all my life. So I try to give something back to the community.

On what he aims to achieve, the talented forward added;

“The first thing is to help people. To give teenagers and children the opportunity choose their life, to go to school, to play football, and with good qualities, good coaches, this is what we are trying to do.”
