Julien Alfred shines again with world-leading and new national record at London Diamond League

Olympic 100m champion Julien Alfred is consistently proving her hold as the world's best sprinter, dropping yet another jaw-dropping national record and new world-leading performance at the London Diamond League.

The Saint Lucian sprint queen clocked a blistering Personal Best (PB) of 21.71s (-0.6) to dominantly win the women's 200m event in London, which smashed her previous national record and PB of 21.83s clocked to claim silver medal at the Paris Olympic Games.

Her training partner Dina Asher-Smith ran 22.25s for second, while Amy Hunt was third in a huge PB of 22.31s. Irish star girl Rhasidat Adeleke settled for fourth in 22.52s.

Most impressive about Alfred's performance was that it was into a headwind and moves her into the top ten in world history. In addition, it was just her second 200m race of the season, again proving she's in the best form of her life and arguably the woman to beat at the world championships in Tokyo

Alfred's victory serves as a strong comeback after her loss to Melissa Jefferson-Wooden in the 100m at the Prefontaine Classic in Eugene a few weeks ago, and remains strong on her ambitions to compete for the 100m and 200m world titles in Tokyo.
