‘It’s the target’ - Guardiola reveals plan to secure qualification to UCL next round
Man City suffered their latest defeat, a 2-0 loss to Juventus, all but scuppering their chances of automatic progress to the last 16.
Despite controlling significant portions of the game, City was soundly defeated in Turin and have now only won once in ten games.
Fans and pundits have questioned their performance as they lost their seventh game of the season in all competitions.
Guardiola speaks on Man City’s chances
Speaking after the game, Guardiola revealed that their next line of action is to end between ninth and 24th place on the table.
It means a finish between ninth and 24th, securing a second bite of the cherry but requiring two extra games in a packed calendar, will probably have to suffice.
According to the Guardian, Guardiola said, “It’s the target. We need one point, three points. Go to Paris to try to do it, and the last game at home.”
When asked if he was doubting himself during a run that was unheard of during his tenure, he responded, “Of course I question myself.
“I’m stable in good moments, bad moments. I try to find a way to do it. I’m incredibly honest, if we play good we play good. Always the game will save us.”
With two games left on their schedule—Man City are left with a home game against Club Brugge and a trip to Paris Saint-Germain
Man City must avoid defeat in both games or they would be eliminated if they dropped three more spots with five points behind the top eight.
