However, all of these fears have now been laid to rest after news emerged that the Court of Arbitration for Sports has cleared the 100m Hurdle World Record Holder of any wrongdoing.
Timeline - Tobi Amusan vs AIU case
Recall that in July 2023, the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) had provisionally suspended Tobi Amusan for breaching an anti-doping rule - missing three whereabouts tests.
Consequently, Amusan appealed her provisional suspension and an independent Tribunal was set up to review the case. The 27-year-old Nigerian athlete was found not guilty, and her ban was lifted.
However, the AIU refused to give up and pursued further measures to nail Amusan. The athletics regulatory body filed an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sports.
The AIU filed an appeal last Friday (15 September 2023) with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) against the Disciplinary Tribunal’s decision, dated 17 August 2023, that Tobi Amusan did not commit an anti-doping rule violation for Whereabouts Failures. pic.twitter.com/hdEsoENdTX
