Former Rangers and NPFL dazzler Ibrahim Olawoyin has promised to give his all if given a chance to play for the Super Eagles this weekend.

Ibrahim Olawoyin, the former Rangers and NPFL star, has expressed immense gratitude for his first-ever call-up to the Nigerian national team, the Super Eagles.

The 26-year-old midfielder, who currently plies his trade with Turkish club Rizespor, was tipped as one of the rising stars in the NPFL during his time with the Flying Antelopes.

Olawoyin's impressive performances for his Turkish club Rizespor have now earned him a deserved spot in the Super Eagles squad, as a replacement for Bayer Leverkusen’s Nathan Tella, who withdrew for family reasons.

Speaking about his selection, Olawoyin could barely contain his excitement.

"I feel so amazing, I feel great about this,” he stated according to a video from the Super Eagles Instagram account. 

“It is a big privilege which I will cherish for life. I appreciate this, and it is a great feeling for me."

Despite calls for his invitation to the national team following impressive displays in the Super Lig, the call-up came as a surprise to the young midfielder, who has been hoping for the opportunity to don the famous green and white jersey of the Super Eagles.

"It came as a surprise to me, a real surprise, but I am so happy that it finally came. I have been looking forward to getting the chance (to play for the Super Eagles) if given to me and try to prove myself."

Olawoyin's journey to the national team has been a winding one, having started his professional career with Nigerian club Rangers, where he honed his skills and caught the attention of scouts both locally and abroad.

His impressive performances in the NPFL eventually led to a move to Rizespor in Turkey, where he has continued to flourish, helping the club return to the Super Lig and finishing in a credible position.

Now, with the opportunity to represent his country on the international stage, Olawoyin is determined to make the most of it. 

The Super Eagles faithful will be eager to see Olawoyin in action, as the team continues its quest to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
