‘It is fantastic to see’ - John Obi-Mikel expresses delight in Super Eagles star’s progress

Ola Aina has been outstanding for Forest in the EPL, with the defender considered one of the best right-backs in the league.

The Super Eagles star has played all Nottingham Forest games and has added two goals to his name.

Nottingham Forest, who are now in second position, has been the season's unexpected contenders in the league.

Mikel, who was a teammate of the versatile full-back while they were at Chelsea, stated that he is not shocked by Aina's outstanding play.

Speaking on The Obi One Podcast, Mikel said, "He has had a good season so far. One thing he has added to his game this season is that he’s defending well. 

“He is putting in a lot of crosses now and, of course, chipping in a couple of goals as well, which is absolutely fantastic to see.

"Listen, we all knew he was a fantastic player at the club. He has gone to Forest and has been playing well since returning to the Premier League from Italy."

Manchester City have declared interest in Aina, which is another indication of his performance this season.

The defender has caught the attention of Pep Guardiola, who has seen his team’s defence struggle this season.

However, Nottingham Forest are in talks to extend his contract, with his deal set to expire at the end of the season.
