‘It doesn’t matter’ — Super Eagles star Akor Adams unfazed by 334 minutes goal drought

Super Eagles star Akor Adams remains focused despite not finding the back of the net in February

Nigerian striker Akor Adams insists personal milestones can wait, as long as Sevilla keep stacking up points.

The Super Eagles forward brushed aside concerns over his recent goal drought after playing a decisive role in Sevilla’s narrow win over Getafe.

Team-first mentality drives Adams forward

The Nigerian striker played a decisive role in Sevilla FC’s hard-fought 1-0 victory over Getafe CF at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez, even if his name was not on the scoresheet.

Showing impressive strength and composure, Adams shielded the ball brilliantly before teeing up Djibril Sow, who rifled home the winner into the bottom-right corner. The forward was substituted in the 89th minute for Gerard Fernández after putting in a tireless shift.

Speaking afterwards, Adams underlined the importance of momentum, especially as Sevilla have now secured points in three consecutive matches.

“It's important that the team has achieved this victory, earning points in three consecutive matches,” he told the club’s official website, reinforcing his commitment to the bigger picture.

Adams unfazed by goal drought

Despite registering six goals and three assists in 20 league appearances this season, Adams has not scored in his last four matches against Mallorca, Girona, Alavés and Getafe.

His last strike came in January during Sevilla’s 2-1 win over Athletic Bilbao shortly after the AFCON tournament.

Yet the Super Eagles star remains unfazed by the dry spell. “It doesn't matter who scores, the important thing is that we accumulate points and keep a clean sheet; the work has been good from everyone. Now it's time to think about next week,” he added.

For Adams, the priority is simple: collective success over individual glory and steady progress over fleeting headlines.
